A goal is an idea of the future or desired result that a person or a group of people envisions, plans and commits to achieve. Whether it be acing a test or becoming an Olympic champion, a goal should take into account one’s capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses. One should be self-aware in order to set and achieve a goal that is attainable and relevant to them.
Pro athletes are prime examples of what one can achieve if one is truly self-aware and is able to completely capitalize on strengths. That’s why athletes like Shaq, one of the biggest, most intimidating player to ever walk on a basketball court, did not find himself practicing gymnastics at his local gymnasium as a teen, but instead putting in countless hours on the hardwood, something that he naturally gravitated towards as that’s where his strengths were, possessing the physical traits he does.
However, you do not need to be a pro athlete to start setting and working towards fitness or sport goals. Everyone, even pro athletes, start their journey of physical self discovery somewhere just like Shaq before he ever touched a basketball, or Wayne Gretzky before he ever picked up a hockey stick. Nobody starts at the top. It’s simply a matter of educating yourself and analyzing the genetic potential you are given such as body type, fiber type, and system strength in order to form a solid foundation for your training plan and nutritional needs so that it can bring you closer to becoming the person you always wanted to be whether it be the next Olympic champion or simply just a happier, healthier version of your previous self.
